Letley's first recording were with his brother Mark's progressive rock band Sindelfingen when he was only 12; a live track including him was added to a CD reissue of their rare LP entitled 'Odgipig (he joined after the recording of that original LP). Letley attended Sir Joseph Williamson's Mathematical School, in Rochester, Kent. As a drummer he played for a number of well-known artists, including a-ha, Bob Geldof, Vanessa Mae, Hank Marvin and Kim Wilde.[1]
Having joined Status Quo in 2000, his first tour with the band was in Germany.
As of 2006[update] Letley is part of Quo's Just Doin' It tour. On the picture to the right, he can be seen performing the drum solo, 'The Killer', that has frequently been included in the song Gerdundula since he joined the band. Since Gerdundula ceased to be performed in the Quo set, his solo is performed during In The Army Now.
