The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Toronto is a Roman Catholic archdiocese that includes part of the Province of Ontario. Its archbishop is also the eccesiatical provincial for the dioceses of Hamilton, London, Saint Catharines, and Thunder Bay. The Archbishop is Thomas Christopher Collins, with auxiliary bishops John Anthony Boissonneau, Richard John Grecco, and Peter Joseph Hundt.

History

The diocese was created in December 17th, 1841 out of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Kingston and covering the western half of Upper Canada with Bishop Michael Power appointed as the first Bishop. As of 2004, the archdiocese contains 223 parishes, 363 active diocesan priests, 448 religious priests, and 1,360,000 Catholics. It also has 668 Women Religious, 510 Religious Brothers, and 96 permanent deacons.
