Dave Parnaby

Dave Parnaby is an English football coach and head of the Middlesbrough youth academy.^[1]

Parnaby is from County Durham. He was a teacher for 22 years, teaching physical education^[1] at Longfield Comprehensive School, in Darlington.^{[citation needed]} He was manager of non-league Gateshead and coached England under-15 schoolboys before joining Middlesbrough.^[1]

Now in charge of developing the youth academy at Middlesbrough, he led his youngsters to the FA Youth Cup Final in 2003, where they finished runners-up to Manchester United. The following year they reached the final for a second successive year and won the trophy for the first time in the club's history with a 4-0 aggregate victory over Aston Villa.^[1] In recent years, Middlesbrough have been noted as having one of the most productive youth academy systems in European football. There are currently no fewer than 19 Middlesbrough Academy representatives playing for England at various levels.^{[citation needed]} In 2008, Parnaby gained the UEFA pro-licence coaching qualification.^[2] The following year, he won the lifetime achievement award at the North-East Sport Awards.^[3]

Parnaby is the father of Birmimgham City right-back Stuart Parnaby, formerly of Boro.
