James McPhail Gillies

James (Jim) McPhail Gillies (born November 2 1924) is a former Canadian parliamentarian. He was first elected to the House of Commons in the 1972 general election, and won re-election in 1974. He served as Opposition finance critic under former Progressive Conservative Leader Robert Stanfield and Joe Clark. He was an unsuccessful candidate at the 1976 Progressive Conservative leadership convention. He did not seek re-election and hence retired as a Member of Parliament in 1979. After his retirement from public office, he was a professor in public policy, specializing in business and government relations at York University's Schulich School of Business.
