Latrobe Valley town of Morwell, Victoria,Australia . The airport is about 2 hours east ofMelbourne , offPrinces Highway , on the west side of Traralgon.Gippsland Aeronautics , manufacturer of the GA200 agricultural aircraft and the GA8 Airvan eight seater passenger aircraft have their base here. Hazelton, Aus-Air (until they ceased operations in mid-1999) and Island Airlines run scheduled flights from the airfield. The Latrobe Valley Aero Club (LVAC) is also located here.The airfield was originally located at Morwell and at Moe before moving to the present site - and the LVAC was instrumental in making the present field into a regional airport. The terminal building contains some displays of aviation artifacts - as does the club-house. There is also the Latrobe Flying Museum - its fleet consisting of a
P-51 Mustang , aCommonwealth Aircraft Corporation Winjeel and aDouglas DC-3 (Dakota).Brindabella Airlines operated a service to itsCanberra Airport hub to cater for public servants travelling to theAustralian Securities and Investments Commission in Traralgon.
