Canterbury in the 2006 Air New Zealand Cup

Canterbury are in Pool B for the first round of the Air New Zealand and start their campaign against Hawke's Bay on the 28 July. Canterbury are the current holders of the Ranfurly Shield and have 5 challenges during the season, 2 in pre-season and 3 during the Air New Zealand Cup. Canterbury played South Canterbury on 4 July, Wairarapa Bush on 11 July, Southland on 18 August, Otago on 1 September and Counties Manukau on 10 September.

The squad of 26 does not include Canterbury’s seven All Blacks – Richie McCaw, Aaron Mauger, Leon MacDonald, Scott Hamilton, Greg Somerville, Reuben Thorne and Daniel Carter – who are currently involved in the Tri Nations Series
