Kincaidston

Kincaidston

Kincaidston is a council housing estate in the town of Ayr in south-west Scotland comprised of 659 homes. The estate was built in the 1970s, the streets are named after flowers, for example Iris Court and Honeysuckle Park. Although the main road that runs right around the estate is called Kincaidston Drive. Most of the houses are now privately owned. There is now a major parking problem as the planners underestimated car ownership in the future. Traffic calming road bumps have also been introduced to slow cars on Kincaidston Drive. The Action Group controls most events in the scheme, Finnola Fisher-Leader and Jane Miller-treasurer.

Kincaidston Amateurs Football Club The Club was founded in June 2000 in an effort to provide the young men in Kincaidston and surrounding area the opportunity to play competitive amateur football. The team was entered into the Ayrshire Amateur South Division Two and in its first season gained promotion to South Division One as runners-up to League Champions Hulrford Thistle. The team also reached the final of the Donsport Trophy in its inaugural season but lost the final in extra time to Dalry. The second season in the South Division One provided a sterner test but the team managed to avoid relegation and maintain its status in Division One and last season the team finished 8th in the league and reached the 6th round of the Scottish Cup before losing to eventual winners Harestanes AFC.After four seasons in South Division 1 the club were relegated at the end of season 2004/2005 to South Division 2.Last season the team finished 5th in South league 2 and in the AAFA league reconstruction have been placed in Ayrshire League 3 for season 2006/2007.The team play its home matches at Kincaidston Park within the scheme and the team colours are sky blue.
