Scot was born in a village in
Pakistan and graduated with aBachelor of Science (Hons) in Applied Mathematics from theUniversity of Karachi in 1975. In 1976 he was awarded a Master of Science (First Class) from the same university. In 1987 he received a Bachelor of Theology from Gujranwala Seminary.In 1986 Daniel was charged under the Blasphemy Law 295C in Pakistan after being "convicted" of blasphemy for quoting the Qur'an.Fact|date=January 2008 Fleeing Pakistan, Scot arrived in Australia where he worked at the
University of Queensland .In 2002, Daniel was conducting a seminar in Melbourne arranged by
Danny Nalliah for Christians aboutIslam . He was subsequently charged under the The Racial and Religious Tolerance Act (2001) Vic for inciting contempt of Islam in the minds of the listeners. Nalliah and Scot were initially convicted, but theSupreme Court of Victoria subsequently upheld an appeal. The case took 5 1/2 years.References
