Football career
An unsuccessful graduate of Real Madrid's youth system, Cifuentes went on to make his professional debuts with Zamora CF, spending most of his early career in the third level.
In 2005–06, he joined Real Sociedad, making his La Liga debut on 21 September 2005, playing 90 minutes in a 3–2 home win over Atlético de Madrid.
Never an important element for the Basque outfit, Cifu would be loaned, on January 2007, to second divisioner SD Ponferradina. He scored once for his new club, on 1 April, in a 3–3 draw at UD Salamanca, who led 3–0 at the hour mark. Ponferradina would be, however, relegated.
Cifuentes joined Real Valladolid in August 2007.[1] After having featured in only nine matches (although eight starts) throughout 2007–08, he would be released in October of the following year despite still having a contract running, alongside teammate Alexis, in the same predicament.[2]
In late January 2009, Cifuentes signed with Cádiz CF, then in the third level, helping it return to division two after a one-year absence.
