The mascot is the Mustang. The school serves students in grades nine through twelve and offers a selection of classes designed to help ensure that all students reach their full potential.There are a variety of classes offered, however most of them are not covered in summer school.[1] [2]

Academic Decathlon Program
Oakdale High School's Academic Decathlon team has won the Stanislaus County competition eleven consecutive times after taking the lead from Modesto in 2000. They have gone to state each time. In 2007 they reached second in division two, and in 2009 reached fifth in the entire state and seventh in the nation. In 2010 they won first in the county and bronze in state.[3]
Science Olympiad
Oakdale High School's Science Olympiad extracurricular club has won the Stanislaus County Regional Progam twice in a row (2010 and 2011), placed third once (2009) and entered without going to the NorCal finals three times (2008, 2007, 2006).
Music Department
The Oakdale High School Music Department has attained many awards and recognitions throughout its existence. The Mustang's Marching and Concert Band (now the OHS Sound Corps) was led by Allison Davis from 2008-10. She then stepped down to marry. Since then, it has been under the direction of Ross McGinniss. McGinnis has brought new life into a band that, previously known for playing Bonnanza during the half-time show, is now remembered for playing such classics as Journey's Dont Stop Believin, Bon Jovi's Living on a Prayer, and other, more modern pieces. The Current Drum Major is Senior Andrew Markel, to be succeeded by Junior Tyler Campbell.
During the 2010-2011 school year, the OHS Jazz Band performed at such notable places as the AmGen Bike Race, The County Superintendents' Dinner, and other events. They are currently the high school's only extra-scholastic band.
Since 2006, the Choir has been directed by Bryan Mills, who has led the choir to perform to their best, allowing them to take their stage to Disneyland in Los Angeles during Spring Break of 2011. The ensemble was greatly awarded with recognition by the "Ears for the Arts" program and experienced a piece of magic in an exclusive Disney workshop.[4]
Drama Department
Under the instruction of Bryan Mills, Oakdale's Drama Department has put on a variety of shows, such as: Snow White, Christmas Carol, Happy Birthday Dear Grandpa, Grease, Little Mermaid, Holka Polka, Under The Big Top, Secret Garden, Godspell, Beauty and The Beast, Raggedy Ann and Andy, Babes in Toyland, Noises Off, West Side Story, Aladdin, The Crucible, Once Upon a Mattress, Alice in Wonderland, Fiddler on the Roof, and A Pirate's Life for Me. In addition, Brian Mills puts on a variety of One Act Play collaboration marathons.
Notable Alumni
- Eddie LeBaron - NFL Football. Washington Redskins and Dallas Cowboys. 4 time Pro Bowl player. He is also a College Football Hall of Famer.
