The White Lion is one of the characters presented in the Freedom City campaign setting available for the "Mutants and Masterminds" role-playing game. Like most FC characters he is a pastiche of an existing comic book character: White Lion is the FC version of Marvel Comics' Black Panther.
The White Lion is King M'Zale of Dakana, a fictional nation analogous to Marvel's Wakanda. Just as Wakanda has a rare and valuable resource (vibranium) Dakana has "daka crystals", with unique energy-manipulating properties that make possible most of the "mad science" technology of their world-- force-fields, anti-gravity, teleporters, interdimensional gateways, etc. In this sense, they are also similar to Star Trek's dilithium crystals or Naqahdah in Stargate SG-1.
The White Lion is the hereditary defender of Dakana. He is a genius trained in many fields of science and technology, a skilled fighter, and has undergone a ritual which also grants him the strength, speed and senses of his totem animal.
