Len King (politician)

Leonard James King AC is a former Australian politician, lawyer and judge.

Political career

King was an Australian Labor Party member of the South Australian House of Assembly between 1970 and 1975, representing the eastern suburbs electorate of Coles. King was appointed to various ministerial portfolios in his career, including Aboriginal Affairs, Social Welfare, Community Welfare, and Prices & Consumer Affairs.

Legal career

King was the Attorney-General during the Don Dunstan government, from 1970 until 1975. [http://www.abc.net.au/elections/sa/2006/guide/mori.htm]

Judicial career

King was a judge from 20 June 1975 until 28 April 1995 on the Supreme Court of South Australia, which is the highest ranking court in the Australian State of South Australia. Of this time, he was Chief Justice from 30 October 1978 until 28 April 1995.

In his retirement, King works as a part-time mediator and sometime Acting Justice of the Supreme Court of South Australia.
