He attended Chief Joseph elementary school and graduated from Great Falls High School. Watts moved to Seattle at age 18 where he briefly attended the Art Institute of Seattle before eventually studying jazz at Cornish College of the Arts.

Watts made his name playing and singing in various bands in the Seattle music scene through the 90's to now, but has now shifted to music comedy since 2004.
