A graduate of

He loaned partnerFred De Luca $1,000 in 1965 to open a sandwich shop to help him pay for college. Together they formedDoctor's Associates to oversee operations of the restaurants as the franchise expanded. Subway now has over 28,700 franchised locations in 86 countries.
