Mstation

Mstation

Mstation is an e-zine dealing with "tech, tech culture, music, and stuff". Originally called Linux Music Station, it was started in 1998. In the early days it was devoted to making music and making software to make music with the Linux operating system. To that end Mstation released the first Linux collection of music making applications on CD in December 1999.

It has featured contributions from Richard Stallman and Bruce Schneier, and interviews witha host of tech and music people including Phil Zimmermann, Paul Davis (programmer), Keane,
Richie Hawtin, Ian Gillan, amongst many others.

From 2000 on Mstation broadened its content to include cultural aspects including art and architecture and also broadened its music coverage.

In 2006 Mstation started a series of electronic and computer based music events called Bleepfest. These have been held in London and Berlin.

The founding editor is John Littler.

2007 saw the introduction of contributor Michael O. Powell.
