The O'Higgins

The O'Higgins

The O'Higgins is the title of the person who is identified as the most senior member of the O'Higgins Sept or Clan. Currently formal recognition of this title is not possible as the Office of the Chief Herald of Ireland in Dublin has stopped the practice of granting courtersy recognition to Chiefs of the Name and the Standing Council of Irish Chiefs and Chieftains has not taken over this role. Not withstanding this, the O'Higgins Clan Association recognises Thomas O'Higgins, NSC, styled as The O'Higgins, Lord of Ballynary as their honorary chief.
