"Philaeus" is a spider genus of the Salticidae family (jumping spiders).

"Philaeus maoniuensis" was moved to genus "Yllenus" in 2003 [Platnick 2007] .

Distribution

"Philaeus" has a wide distribution, with most species coming from the Mediterranian and West Africa. Single species are known from Guatemala and the Galapagos Islands. [Murphy & Murphy 2000: 279]
