Larkin High School, or LHS, is a public four-year high school located in Elgin, Illinois, a north-west suburb of Chicago, Illinois, in the United States. It is part of Elgin Area School District U46, which also includes Elgin High School, Bartlett High School, South Elgin High School, and Streamwood High School.

History

Larkin High School was built in 1962 on the former farm of Cyrus H. Larkin, whom the school is named after.

Academics

In 2006, Larkin graduated 84.7% of its senior class. Larkin has not made Adequate Yearly Progress on the Prairie State Achievements Examination, a state test part of the No Child Left Behind Act. [ [http://www.u-46.org/cnt/docs/06lhs.pdf Illinois School Report Card] ]

Larkin offers nearly forty extracurricular activities, including academic, service, and performing arts. Home of the Visual and Performing Arts Academy. The Larkin High School Visual and Performing Arts Academy (VPAA) is a four-year program which offers specialized academic studies and activities in the areas of Art, Dance, Drama, and Music.
