The Battle of Cobleskill (Cobleskill massacre) occurred on May 30-June 1, 1778, in Cobleskill, New York.

The battle marked the beginning of a phase in which the Iroquois at the behest of the British burned numerous villages on what was then the United States western frontier in western New York and Pennsylvania including the Cherry Valley massacre and the Wyoming Valley massacre.

Brant's party destroyed the settlement and killed the cattle which could not be led off.

The Americans set off in pursuit and in this resulting battle, 22 men (Continental and militia) were killed in the raid. Six were wounded, and two taken prisoner. 25 of the Iroquois and the Loyalists were said to have been killed and seven more wounded died during a trek to Canada.

The Colonists were led by Captain William Patrick who led his troops into an ambush on Cobus Kill while pursuing a small band of Iroquois. Patrick was killed in the attack.
