Telhara is a city and a municipal council in Akola district in the Indian state of Maharashtra.

Geography

Telhara is located at coord|21.03|N|76.84|E| [ [http://www.fallingrain.com/world/IN/16/Telhara.html Falling Rain Genomics, Inc - Telhara] ] . It has an average elevation of 274 metres (898 feet).

Demographics

As of 2001 India census [GR|India] , Telhara had a population of 18,906. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Telhara has an average literacy rate of 74%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 80%, and female literacy is 67%. In Telhara, 14% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Telhara is the largest tehsil plcae in Akola district and just because of lots of avaibility of necessary things (food,water,space etc) more & more peoples coming from Akola as there is shortage of this things.

EDUCATION: Telhara has 3 D.Ed/B.Ed colleges for education and also Telhara has 2 Jr. Colleges one is one of the oldest in Akola District Named as Shri. Seth Bancidhar Jr. Science College and other is newly founded Jaganath Dhone Jr. College, Talegaon which is giving 100% remarkable result for past 3 yrs.

Population: Telhara now have population near about 35,000 with Hindu dominating other religions compromising near about 88% much higher than national average and in Hindus Marwaris play crucial role,Budhhist are also making 9%,Muslims 2% & Rest..with 52% male & 48% female this is the Non-Violent calm city in tense Akola Didtrict.
