Sirsilla is a city and a municipality in Karimnagar district in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. Sirisilla name came from sirishala. Majority people belong to padmashali caste. There are lot of suicides of weavers from last 10 years because of poverty & crisis.

Geography

Demographics

As of 2001 India census [GR|India] , Sirsilla had a population of 65,016. Males constitute 50% of the population and females 50%. Sirsilla has an average literacy rate of 61%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 72%, and female literacy is 51%. In Sirsilla, 12% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Temples

Vemulawada - it is a famous temple located at Vemulawada (Sircilla division). It is temple of lord Shiva dating back to 8th century AD, said to be constructed by Chalukyas. It is a temple dedicated to both traces of Vysnavism, Slivism coupled with Durgah which Hindus and Muslim visit with great enthusiasm. The town is godded by Nagaradhisah as seen by the temples guuarding the main temple of Shiva Bhimaiswara Allayam - Mahalakshmi temple, Laxmi Narasimha Swamy temple, goddess Baddi Pochava temple, Anjayanaya temple, Ayyapa Swamy temple, or added attraction in the surrounding Sri Krishna on the top of Kalindi snake constructed on the hill attract pilgrims. Dams

Upper manair dam - it is a tank of 24 t.m.c capacity constructed by the Nizam king on the Manair. It is a Masonry dam using rock inside and earthen bund outside with spillway. Because of scanty rainfall, project has not received enough water for the last 12 yrs and hence government has taken up lift irrigation project from proposed mid Manair.
