Rayya is a town and a nagar panchayat in Amritsar district in the Indian state of Punjab. Rayya is located 5 kilometers from the river Beas. Rayya is also known for girls college,Shaheed Darshan Singh Pheruman Girls College for Women and Shaheed Darshan Singh Pheruman Public School. It is situated on GT Road (National Highway). The major towns and villages near Rayya include: Baba Bakala, Beas, Pheruman, Dhianpur and Tangra. Most of the people residing in Rayya have come from the near by villages. It is roughly situated 35 kilometers from Amritsar and 45 kilometers from Jalandhar.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census, [GR|India] Rayya had a population of 12,620. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Rayya has an average literacy rate of 70%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 72%, and female literacy is 67%. In Rayya, 12% of the population is under 6 years of age. Sikh consist of 99% of the population in the town of Rayya.
