Petlad is a Town and a municipality "Taluka" in Anand district in the Indian state of Gujarat.

Geography

Petlad is located at coord|22.47|N|72.8|E| [ [http://www.fallingrain.com/world/IN/9/Petlad.html Falling Rain Genomics, Inc - Petlad] ] . It has an average elevation of 30 metres (98 feet).

Demographics

As of 2001 India census [GR|India] , Petlad had a population of 51,153. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Petlad has an average literacy rate of 74%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 79%, and female literacy is 67%. In Petlad, 10% of the population is under 6 years of age. Economy depends on farmers fromsurrounding villages.

Talking about literacy, Petlad is a proud town where Mr. Sardar Patel "Iron Man Of India" did his schooling.

One of the two spinning mills, Shyamprakash Spinning Mills [http://www.shyamprakash.com link title] ,after being restarted by the same owner, provides employment to 300 workers.
