Palamedu is a panchayat town in Madurai district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census [GR|India] , Palamedu had a population of 8187. Males constitute 50% of the population and females 50%. Palamedu was one of the villages where early Nadar community migrants from South Tamilnadu settled down while settling in so many other villages like Pattiveeranpatti, Palayampatti, Sathangudi, Sholavandhan, Saalichandhai, Bodi and formed uravinmurais which resulted in formation community run schools in these villages.
