Madambakkam is a panchayat town in Kancheepuram district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

Geography

Madambakkam is located at coord|12.85|N|80.05|E| [ [http://www.fallingrain.com/world/IN/25/Madambakkam.html Falling Rain Genomics, Inc - Madambakkam] ] . It has an average elevation of 29 metres (95 feet).

Madambakkam is known for its historic Shiva Temple of Lord Thenupuriswarar, believed to be constructed during the tenure of kulothunga Chola.

People

The madambakkam is highly residential area where ,the population is a mixture of north Indians and Tamilians .Many in the Area speak hindi as there is lot of influence of the Air force neibhours.Even the children in the area are familiar with the language since the majority of the schooling population are from Kendriya vidhyalaya(I) and Kendriya vidhyalaya(II).Madambakkam is know for the aquariums as there are nearly 4 aquariums in the area which is a form of recriation for the kids during holidays("Priya Aquarium" is the one such near the Bharat Engineering college ,which is supposed to be the oldest(prop:Devaraj).Rajakilpakkam and Camproad are the near by busy areas.
