state ofTamil Nadu . Its the second town where majority of the people are Muslim. It lies approximately 20 kilometers from the temple city ofChidambaram and 3 kilometers from theKattumannarkoil (aka Kattumannarkudi) town. Lalpet is famous for its own heritage and moral values. Arabic college "Jamia Manba'ul Anwar"it was Established in 1862. This college is said to be the second largest in Tamilnadu after the famed Baki'aathus Salihaath of Vellore.Lake Veeranam, one of the lengthiest lakes in Tamilnadu passes through Lalpet. Any breach of Veeranam during floods affects Lalpet. The total literacy rate of Lalpet is 79% which is more than the national literacy rate. Muslims are living 98% and peoples from other religions also living peacefully.
The majority of the locals work in agriculture while many of the youths do business in the Middle East, Europe and South East Asia. Lalpet is a very religious Islamic town. Lalpet is very beautiful & peaceful place.most of the foreigners settled in Lalpet because its peaceful & beautiful.
