Kawardha is a city and a municipality in Kabirdham district in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh. It is the administrative headquarters of Kabirdham district.

Geography

Kawardha is located at coord|22.02|N|81.25|E| [ [http://www.fallingrain.com/world/IN/37/Kawardha.html Falling Rain Genomics, Inc - Kawardha] ] . The total area is 798 sq. m. The state consists of hill and forest. It has an average elevation of 353 metres (1158 feet).

Demographics

As of 2001 India census [GR|India] , Kawardha had a population of 31,788. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Kawardha has an average literacy rate of 66%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 76%, and female literacy is 55%. In Kawardha, 15% of the population is under 6 years of age.
