Jansath is located in Uttar Pradesh the north-western part of India, about 118 km from the National Capital of Delhi.
This is a very historic town since the time of Mahabharat. The temple where the Kauravas & Pandvas played dice & lost their kingdom is on the southern outskirts of Jansath and know as " Mahadev ka Mandir".
When the Sayyids came to India from Central Asia they preferred to settle in & around Jansath, these people were called the
Saiyids of Barha or (Sadaat E Barah). This area has one the largest conentrations of Sayyids in India.Jansath became the centre of attraction during the later Mughal Period, the Mughal rulers were weak & the matters of the Empire were handled by the powerful Sayyids, the most influential of them were Sayyid Hassan Ali Khan (Alias Abdullah Khan) & his brother Sayyid Hussain Ali Khan. They changed several Mughal Kings from Farrukh Siyyar to Mohammed Shah at their will & are therefore popularly known in the History of India as King-Makers.
Sayyid Hassan Ali Khan & Sayyid Hussain Ali Khan were murdered through a conspiracy in 1720.
Jansath at present is a Tehsil in the Muzaffar Nagar District. It has several old monuments of the Mughal times including the original palace of Sayyid brothers which is called Rang Mahal. It is monument to watch with the grand entrance called “Bada Darwaza”. This house is in the care of the great grand children of Sayyid brothers who maintain the house & visit it regularly.
Jansath has other old monuments like Sheesh Mahal, Moti Mahal, Badi & Choti Haveli in Jannatabad. While visiting this small town one will not imagine how people from here once controlled the affairs of the mighty Mughal Empire.
If we talk about the people living here, they are very friendly and supportive.
There is only one degree college in Jansath called D.A.V.Degree College. So from all the surrounding, people come to study here. There is no good English primary school for schooling. Usually parents prefer to send their children to Muzaffarnagar city for schooling.
