North Tipperary County ( _ga. Contae Thiobraid Árann Thuaidh; known until 2002 as "Tipperary North Riding") is an administrative county in Ireland, consisting of 48% of the land area of the traditional county of Tipperary. North Tipperary was established in 1898, and has had a county council ever since, with separate assize courts since 1838. The county seat is Nenagh. Other important places include Newport, Templemore, Thurles, and Roscrea.

North Tipperary County Council promotes the county as an independent local government area, and regards the county as having its own distinctive culture and identity. The council also claims the title of "the Premier County", [ [http://www.tipperarynorth.ie/corporate.htm North Tipperary County Council Corporate Policy] ] a title which is sometimes used to refer to both North and South Tipperary Counties.

North Tipperary County is legally defined as forming part of the "midwest" region, and falls under that regional authority, whereas South Tipperary County is defined as being in the "southeast".
