Forrester was born in Hanley,
Stoke-on-Trent and was educated at Eastwood (local authority run) School, the City School of Commerce in Stoke-on-Trent, andAlsager teacher training college inCheshire . Polish Resettlement Corps before becoming a teacher in the city.
