Dukhovshchina (Russian: Духовщина) is a town and the administrative center of Dukhovshchinsky District of Smolensk Oblast, Russia, located on the Vostitsa River 57 kilometers (35 mi) northeast of Smolensk. Population: 4,370 (2010 Census preliminary results);[1] 4,683 (2002 Census);[2] 5,747 (1989 Census).[3]

Dukhovshchina grew into a town on the spot of the Dukhov Monastery, built some time in the 13th century. It was granted town status in 1777.
