Lily Amanda Winters (previously Romalotti) is a fictional character, a resident of Genoa City in the soap opera "The Young and the Restless". The character has been portrayed by Christel Khalil from August 15 2002 to September 2 2005, and was then replaced by Davetta Sherwood, who played the role from February 7 to November 3 2006. Khalil returned to the role on November 7 2006. Brooke Marie Bridges played the young Lily from 1997 to 2000. Starting off as an innocent teenager, the character has become one of daytime's favorite women [Khalil was ranked #1 in August 18th CBS Soaps in Depth Reader's Poll] , some of what is due to her pairing with Cane Ashby [The supercouple of Cane & Lily were ranked #1 in the August 18th CBS Soaps in Depth Reader's Poll] . Khalil received Daytime Emmy nominations for the role in 2004 and 2006.

Character's background

Lily is the daughter of Malcolm (played by Shemar Moore) and Drucilla Winters (Victoria Rowell). Until recently she believed that Malcolm's brother, Neil (Kristoff St. John), was her father. She has an adopted brother, Devon (Bryton McClure), and until recently was married to Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei).

In 2004, Lily was given an STD by her much older boyfriend, Kevin Fisher (Greg Rikaart) during unlawful sex. Much to the surprise of viewers, she eventually forgave him when he rescued her from a guy who drugged her that same year. Unbeknownst to Lily, the drugging was a setup gone bad orchestrated by Daniel and Kevin in an attempt to make Kevin look like a hero.

On June 25, 2008, Lily celebrated her 21th birthday on screen.

Daniel Romalotti

In 2005, Lily began her relationship with Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei) when he was charged with vehicular homicide after being in a car accident with Cassie Newman (Camryn Grimes), which resulted in Cassie's death (it was later revealed that it was Cassie who was driving). Lily was the only one (other than Malcolm; Christine, played by Lauralee Bell; and his mother Phyllis, played by Michelle Stafford) who stood by Daniel. They fled to L.A. to avoid arrest and a "Romeo and Juliet"-style romance developed. After Daniel was exonerated, Neil and Drucilla sent Lily away to boarding school.

In February 2006, Lily returned and secretly reunited and eloped with Daniel. Shortly after their marriage, Daniel confessed to being involved in Lily's drugging two years prior. Lily was furious with Daniel, and moved back in with her parents. Lily eventually forgave Daniel and moved back in with him in the former Abbott pool house.

Drucilla's Death and Lily's Divorce

In April 2007, while on location for a photo shoot, a horrified Lily looked on as her mother, Dru, along with Sharon Newman (Sharon Case), fell off a cliff during an argument with Phyllis. She then found out that the search and rescue team had found Dru's jacket floating past the falls. The police changed the mission to a recovery operation to find Dru's body.

Lily discovered that Daniel was keeping his addiction to pornography from her. The couple underwent counseling but ultimately Daniel did several other things that drove Lily to begin the process of divorcing Daniel. It was also revealed that since she forged Malcolm's name on the marriage certificate, the whole marriage was invalid.

Cane Ashby

Lily was single for a while after, being set up by friends on pointless dates. But she and the recently divorced Cane Ashby (Daniel Goddard) developed a mutual attraction, and shared their first kiss at Lily's divorce party in September 2007. The two of them then began a flirting relationship. However, Cane denied that they could be together for a while, due to the fact that she was much younger, but their attraction could only be contained for so long.

During a double date at Indigo club (owned by Lily's adoptive father Neil) with her adoptive brother Devon Hamilton Winters (Bryton McClure) his girlfriend Roxanne (Tatyana Ali) and a blind date, Cane, his mother Jill Abbott (Jess Walton) and Cane's grandmother Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper) walked into the club. Cane spotted Lily and her date and approached the two couples to say hello. After speaking with them briefly, Cane returned to his table but continued to watch Lily for the rest of the night. Lily left the table at Indigo to see why Karen was not going to sing that night and walked in on Karen and Neil kissing. Upset by this, Lily returned to the table with her brother and friends but still upset she left them and went to the alley behind the club.

Cane and Lily's second kiss came as a result of Cane seeing Lily upset and following her out to the alley. He approached Lily and told her that seeing her with someone else made him jealous and that he couldn't stay away from her anymore. The several kisses they then shared was a preluded to the start of their courtship. However, their kissing was interrupted by Neil, a foreshadowing of what was to come. Cane and Lily are now officially dating, despite Neil's ongoing disapproval.

Fresh Faces of Jabot

Lily became a finalist for the Fresh Faces of Jabot contest then won one of five positions as an exclusive model for Jabot Cosmetics, owned by Cane's family, the Chancellors. It was at the ceremony where she was announced winner that Lily learned the true nature of Daniel and Amber's relationship.

She does many photoshoots and undergoes constant criticism from Chloe Mitchell, Lily's modeling mentor. Cane supports her all the way, stealing secret kisses with her and romantic trysts as to keep the mood concerning their relationship somber and unaffecting.

On February 14, 2008, Lily surprised Cane with a romantic rendezvous at the Genoa City Athletic Club where they spent the day and night together.

Later on in March 2008, Lily was planning to move out of her dad's apartment, while his girlfriend, Karen, was debating on whether to move in.

"Restless Style"

Lily was scheduled to be the first ever cover model for "Restless Style", a magazine created by Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow), Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman), and their respective wives. At a "Restless Style" party being held prior to the launch Lily was introduced to Felicia Forrester (Leslie Kay), at the time, Head of Public Relations for Forrester Creations.

During her time in Genoa City, Felicia also met with Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott), the CEO of Jabot Cosmetics. Felicia was interested in using Lily, the Fresh Faces of Jabot winner, for a Forrester campaign. Nikki agreed to the deal, and Lily was soon on her way to Los Angeles for a Forrester fashion shoot.

Unfortunately for Lily, her time as a cover model was shortlived. Her cover for "Restless Style" was scrapped at the last minute and she was replaced by a professional.

Pregnancy

In April 2008, Cane suspected that Lily might be pregnant because of her constant fatigue, mood swings and sicknesses. The fetus was lost due to a blighted ovum abnormality and she tested positive for pregnancy due to remaining hormones within the sac. She blames herself for the loss. Although Lily and Cane lost their baby, Cane continues to stay by her side despite his own hurt.

Chloe/Cane/Lily

Lily and Cane were making their way back to each other physically and emotionally after her miscarriage when Chloe, her fashion consultant and agent, starts hitting on Cane behind her back. She manipulated situations to keep them apart on certain date nights and recently she took advantage of a drunken Cain by manipulating a fake one-time romp, knowing she was already pregnant. She gladly "confessed" their faked one night stand to Lily and within a few days claimed to be pregnant, and the baby is Cane's. Lily and Cane do not believe her, since Cane had been in a similar situation before with his ex-wife Amber (over a fake marriage). However, the paternity test came back showing "non-exclusion from paternity."

Upon hearing this, Lily encourages Cane to marry Chloe for the baby's sake. He marries Chloe, but later discovers (along with Lily) that she is Esther's daughter (Katherine's maid). He, Lily, Jill (his mother) and Katherine (his grandmother) all correctly believe that is a set up, however, they all still believe the child belongs to Cane.

It was clearly shown that Chloe was pregnant before the fake romp, having taken eight at-home pregnancy tests, and having been tested by a doctor. Chloe was even shown changing the date on her sonogram to help her lie. Since Cane is not excluded from the matching paternity group, it is assumed that the father is a relative with similar DNA; his brother, Billy Abbott, who is set to return to Genoa City, is implied to be a potential father.
