The A591 is a major
road inCumbria , in the north-west ofEngland . The road begins 3.5 miles north-west of junction 36 of theM6 motorway at aroundabout with theA590 road , close toSizergh Castle . It bypasses the town ofKendal as adual carriageway , before becoming a busysingle carriageway road as it enters theLake District . It bypasses the town of Windermere, following close to the north-eastern edge offWindermere . After this, it travels through the centre ofAmbleside , shortly before following the eastern edge ofGrasmere and passing the village of Grasmere and White Moss Common. The road continues pastThirlmere , and shortly afterwards reaches the town of Keswick. It meets theA66 road at a roundabout, before continuing in a roughly north-westerly direction, with fine views overBassenthwaite Lake . The Bothel to Keswick section has many steep bends and is particularly narrow in places, leading to many accidents. The road terminates at the village of Bothel, on theA595 road .External links
