Beliatore ( _bn. বেলিয়াতোড়) is a census town in Bankura District in the state of West Bengal, India.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census, [GR|India] Beliatore had a population of 5653. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Beliatore has an average literacy rate of 74%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with 55% of the literates being male and 45% being female. 10% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Transport

Sunil Khan, MP, has raised in parliament the question of extending the Bankura-Damodar Railway from Beliatore to Durgapur, via Barjora [ [http://parliamentofindia.nic.in/lsdeb/ls13/ses9/260202.html Parliament Question] ] A preliminary engineering-cum-traffic survey was conducted in July 1998 for construction of a new line from Beliatore to Durgapur. As per the survey report, the cost of construction of this 28 km long line was assessed as Rs. 90.64 crore at the then price level with a negative rate of return. The proposal could not be considered due to acute constraint of resources and heavy throw-forward of ongoing projects. This information was given by the Minister of State for Railways R. Culture
