Demographics

As of 2001 India census, [GR|India] Arambag had a population of 56,129. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. 12% of the population is under 6 years of age.

In 2001 election, Binoy Dutta won, with Sk Hassan Imama of Trinamool Congress in second position. In 1996, Binoy Dutta had won with Abdus Sukur of INC in second position. In 1991, Benode Das of CPI (M) won with Jalim Singha Roy of INC in second position. In 1987, Benode Das won with Abdul Mannan of INC in second position. In 1982, Abdul Mannan of INC won, with Ranjit Chakraborti, Independent, in second position. In 1977, Ajoy Kumar Dey of Janata Party, won, with Madan Mohan Saha of CPI (M) in second position.
