Deebo is a fictional character from the first two films of the "Friday" movies, set in South Central Los Angeles in the 1990s. He was portrayed by actor Tommy Lister, Jr.

Character

Deebo is the primary antagonist in the "Friday" movie series. He has a menacing appearance, and every character expresses fear of Deebo, probably due to his continual violent and criminal conduct. His character is introduced, photographed from menacing angles and with a theme that sounds threatening and dangerous. While in a series of comedic films, Deebo represents one of the hard truths of living in certain parts of South Central Los Angeles, where even the most law-abiding people are often confronted with dangerous characters and investigating police officers.

Events in the films

="Friday"=

In the first film, Deebo essentially roams the streets (notably on a bicycle) looking for people to rob through intimidation and outright violence. In an early scene he is depicted striking another character so hard that the victim literally flies backwards into the air and lands, knocked out. He also is seen forcibly stealing a chain, stealing a beach cruising bike, and forcing Smokey to break into a house. When Deebo is seen approaching, characters would usually hide their personal belongings to prevent them from being stolen by Deebo. Before the ending moments of the movie, he has no issues with Craig.

Craig, the protagonist in both movies, gets fed up when Deebo attacks Debbie and decides to confront Deebo in the final moments of "Friday" by pulling out a gun. After a lengthy fist fight, however, Deebo gets "knocked the fuck out" by Craig (as quoted by Smokey). In the opening scenes of the sequel "Next Friday", Deebo awakes to find himself cornered by Los Angeles police officers.

"Next Friday"

After spending four years in prison, Deebo breaks out, along with his little brother Tyrone (Sticky Fingaz). They approach Craig and his father Mr. Jones as they where about to leave the neighborhood in the father's dog truck. Mr. Jones hits Tyrone while Deebo runs out of the way. Persistent, Deebo and Tyrone follows Craig's dad to a burrito joint where they make a false emergency phone call to the owner to tell Mr. Jones that Craig was in trouble. They sneak inside of the back of the dog truck, knowing that Mr. Jones would drive back to Rancho Cucamonga for Craig's safety, but, as soon as they finally arrive there, he and his brother end up getting arrested by the LAPD again.
