Alawalpur is a city and a municipal council in Jalandhar district in the state of Punjab, India. Alawalpur is named after Alawal Khan a Pathan who ruled the area during the time of Maharajah Ranjit Singh. Sardar Himmat Singh Jallewalia, a General in Ranjit Singh's army later conquered Alawalpur. His descendants still live in a fort that is located in the middle of the city.

Wheat, rice, sugarcane, sunflower, maze, potato are some of the major crops in the Alawalpur area.Alawalpur is now mainly ruled by dhariwal family and his decendants( harmandeep singh dhariwal).He is one the rising star in football. Mainly alawalpur is dominated by dhariwals, dhillions, mands and many more
