The Carolina Youth Commission

The Carolina Youth Commission (CYC) is a non-profit youth organization that currently serves teenagers in both North and South Carolina.

CYC is a parachurch school-based organization that equips teens to serve their peers, and to be a Christian influence on their middle school and high school campuses. The organization also serves as a youth ministry network hub connecting local church youth pastors to students, to one another, and to useful teen ministries, secular and Christian. CYC hosts a few large events that draw thousands of participants yearly, including the Eagle Awards Celebration, and the Battle of the Bands competition.

CYC partners with many organizations, most-notably the YMCA, The United Way, Youth For Christ, [http://www.Steelroots.com Steelroots] and the [http://www.youthworkers.net National Network of Youth Ministries (NNYM)] .

History

The Carolina Youth Commission was founded on March 6, 1998 when the Boards of Directors for The Bridge Youth Ministries, Inc. and First Priority Charlotte (founded 1994) voted to merge their efforts. The two youth ministries shared a passion to invest in the positive transformation of the youth of the Carolinas.
