Caswell County, North Carolina at the crossroads ofUS 158 and Ashland Rd/Park Springs Rd. Travelers alongUS 158 notice a drastic change in thespeed limit from 55mph (88.5km/h ) to 35 mph (56.3 km/h] ) as they approach the community's only cautiontraffic signal ; the speed limit returns to convert|55|mi/h|km/h|abbr=on after leaving the crossroads area. Casville has twogas stations for those traveling along US 158 betweenYanceyville, North Carolina andReidsville, North Carolina . It even has a restaurant which opens and closes often, and churches and avolunteer fire department . Neighboring communities include Pelham and Ruffin.One of Casville's convenience stores is a popular visiting spot for solicitors and occasional beggars. Women who often stop by the store usually enter with caution, as they fear of being visually harassed by the male solicitors
The Paschals' Christmas Lights
Every winter Caswell residents Leon and Ann Paschal decorate their yard and cabins with over a million
Christmas lights (approximately 1,040,000 lights in 2004) and miscellaneousdecoration s. The extravaganza has attracted local and national attention; a news special was even featured on theFox News Channel in 2005.Gospel music is played throughout the entire display to convey messages ofhope and redemption. The attraction is open to the local public and is free of charge; donations help fund the Paschals' approximate $10,000electric bill generated by the light show. The couple says they "do it forJesus because he's the reason for the season."
