The school mascot is the
raccoon .Until 2003 the mascot was simply the Coon (later changed to the Fighting Coon). Though coon is a shortened form of raccoon, it is also considered in some circles to be a
racial slur against African-Americans. After some residents filed a court case, the school board elected to change the mascot to raccoon.Facts and Figures

Around 1700 students are enrolled for 2006-2007 at Frisco High, the lowest number since originally opening. As a result of the fast-growing population in Frisco (estimated at about 83,000 in 2006 from a population of 33,714 during the 2000 census,
Frisco Centennial High School was opened in 2003 and two additional high schools, Liberty and Wakeland, have opened for the 2006-2007 school year.School Organizations
Competitive
FHS German Club: The German club has competed in the local Winterfest Competition for the past 3 years and in the associated Sportfest for the past 2 years. In the 2007-2008 school year two students progressed to the state level. They competed in the German Level 2
Sight Reading and the German Level 4 Poetry Memory competitions. The places received were 8th and 6th respectively.FHS Band : Directors of the program currently include Greg Hayes, Timothy Golden, Heath Dillard, with Toby Leikness as the Color Guard director. In both 2006 and 2007 the band achieved a one in the UIL
Marching Band competition and advanced to Area Marching Contest.FHS Varsity Football Team : This football team had a major achievement in making it to the
playoffs in 2007-2008, but were defeated by the Highland Park Scots.Noncompetitive
The Frisco
Glee Club is run by a new student teacher. It has had an amazing first year with show attendance in the double digits. Its patriotic show brought much recognition and pride to FHS.Rivalries
FHS and Centennial High School : The rivalry between these schools is friendly, but there have been occasions where vandalism has occurred as a result of perceived rivalry.
