Students' Association of the University of Adelaide
- Students' Association of the University of Adelaide
The SAUA (Students' Association of the University of Adelaide) was a Students' Representative Council like body that existed for students at the University of Adelaide from 1973 until 2007.[ [http://www.union.adelaide.edu.au/student/representation/src.html Adelaide University Union - Student Site ] ] It was one of a number of student organisations at the university affiliated to and funded by the Adelaide University Union through the government sanctioned 'Union Fee'. Prior to 1973 a Student Representative Council represented student interests at the University.]The SAUA had representative members on many of the University of Adelaide's committees to give a student opinion and advice to university academic staff and administrators. In addition to this it gave comment in the media and made submissions to government inquiries about issues that affected students and young people in general. The SAUA also regularly ran events and campaigns on campus to raise awareness about issues such as gender-based discrimination, student poverty, exploitation of young people in the workplace and the environment.
The SAUA ran annual elections to elect students to its various office-bearer positions as well as positions on the governing council.
In 2007, the SAUA was replaced with the SRC (Student Representation Council)
