Luigi G. Napolitano Award

Luigi G. Napolitano Award

The Luigi G. Napolitano Award is presented every year at the Congress of the International Astronautical Federation (IAF).

It has been presented annually, since 1993, to a young scientist under 30 years of age who has presented a paper at the International Astronautical Congress.

The award consists of the Napolitano commemorative medal and a certificate of citation, and is presented by the Education Committee of the IAF.

The International Academy of Astronautics (IAA) administers awards which are given by the Board of Trustees in recognition of excellence in the fields of science and technology. The Academy was founded in Stockholm on August 16, 1960. Since that time, IAA has brought together the world's foremost experts in the disciplines of astronautics on a regular basis to recognize the accomplishments of their peers, to explore and discuss cutting-edge issues in space research and technology, and to provide direction and guidance in the non-military uses of space and the ongoing exploration of the solar system.
The Luigi Napolitano Award instituted since 1992 is given annually to recognize excellence in recent publication (less than three years) made by an individual or a group non-member of the Academy in any field related to space. This award is given by the Board of Trustees upon recommendation of the Awards and Membership Committee.
