Jajmau is suburb of
Kanpur ,India . It is situated on the banks of theGanges River (Ganga).Jajmau is an industrial suburb. The main industry is theleather industry.Postcode is 208010.It is home to some of the BiggestLeather tanneries in Northern India.Jajmau is one of the oldest settlement near ganges river in kanpur.It is home to most of the biggest leather industries in India generating 1500cr of revenues every year. While coming from Lucknow fom the new ganges bridge you can see the old "Jiinatun ki Masjid" on top of the hill. It resembles our taj mahal due to its architucture and white colour. Going down the side of the hill opposite to the river, its a settlement for nearly half a million people mostly involved in leather industry. You will also see a big compound called "Jalil saheb ka haata" where live one of the oldest families of Jajmau from more than 200 years.
Going further down from the uphill there is the famous shrine of Hazrat Makhdoom Shah Ala based on which the areas is named as Makhdoom Nagar. Feroze Shah Tughlaq built the tomb of this famous Sufi saint in the year 1358. A mosque built by Kulich Khan in 1679 AD also stands here.
Also in the shrine there are two ancient carved stones which might give the exact date of the shrine but no one know how to read that script. Every Thursday lots of people belonging to every religion assemble in the dargah sharif to pray and mark there attendance.-
