Australian rules football er in theAustralian Football League .Joel Macdonald is a utility defender who can play any back positions. Known for his good handball disposal and 'hard at it' style of play who put his body on the line. He is also know for his quality disposal by foot.
Early life
Football career
He was recruited through the
2002 Rookie Draft (QLD Zone) from Mt Gravatt. He made his debut for theBrisbane Lions in Round 10, 2004 against Melbourne.Through his first 4 seasons of his career, Joel MacDonald had horrible disposal kicking accuracy as he turned over many kicks which he was dropped from the senior. However during early 2007 season Joel MacDonald was injuried his Anterior Crucial Ligament which he missed out the 2007 season for 1 year. 2008 season was considered to be the best career performance for Joel MacDonald as his kicking disposal has heavily improved, while his stamina and ability to run at fast pace has made him one of the best performers for Brisbane Lions and made him their Centre Half Back, despite his height and size disadvantage (187cm, 88kg which is considered to be small for Centre Half Back position). However he was once injuried again towards the mid 2008 season which Brisbane Lions missed out on AFL finals action.
