Minor locations of Homeworld

Homeworld is a series of real-time strategy PC games released by Sierra Entertainment between 1999 and 2003. In the series a massive spacecraft called the Mothership travels around the galaxy. This article gives brief descriptions about each place the Mothership travels through.

Homeworld

Outskirts of Kharak System

This is the location where the Mothership was to meet the Khar-Selim to undergo hyperdrive tuning. The Mothership was instead ambushed by the Turanic Raiders that destroyed the Khar-Selim. Apart from a minor asteroid belt, this part of space is barren.

Great Wastelands

The Great Wastelands is an area of space rich in asteroid deposits located outside the boundaries of the Kharak system. The Mothership fled to the Great Wastelands after rescuing the remnants of the Kushan population from a small Taiidan force orbiting Kharak. They are visited by the Bentusi, a race of intergalactic traders who seem sympathetic toward the Kushan plight. The Mothership was then attacked by Turanic Raiders, but the Kushan destroyed them, or (if player chose so) captured them via salvage corvettes.

Diamond Shoals

The Mothership jumped into this area to avoid passing near two Taiidan military outposts. The ship jumped directly into a turbulent asteroid belt as planned, but thankfully no serious damage was incurred. Following this incident, the Bentusi arrived to trade.

The Gardens of Kadesh

The Mothership arrives here to harvest the area and to hide from the Taiidani who were afraid to travel through this place because no one had previously returned from here, but is met by the Kadeshi who attack them. When the Mothership tries to leave it is prevented by a hyperspace-inhibitor, which leaves eventually, allowing the Mothership to hyperspace out. This area is very rich in mineable resources.

The Cathedral of Kadesh

The Mothership was trapped here by three hyperspace-inhibitors and had to destroy all three to escape. They also learned here that most likely the Kadeshi and Kushan descend from the same race. This area is very rich in mineable resources.

Sea of Lost Souls

The area being located less than a light-year from the Garden of Kadesh's core, proto-stars can be seen trailing dust trails as a supergiant star takes shape in the distance. The Mothership stopped here to identify an unknown ghost ship. The ghost ship is investigated and found to be very old. The Bentusi visit the Mothership and trade them super-heavy chassis technology in return for the data the Mothership collected. This area has a decent amount of mineable asteroids, but they are spread very far apart.

Super Nova Research Station

The Mothership went here to destroy the Taiidan research station observing a dangerous supernova, so as to allow them access to the Hiigaran planetary system. They maneuvered a fleet through dust veins to the station to destroy it along with the station's guard fleet. There are many asteroids in this area but only two patches of them can be safely mined without the collectors receiving damage, due to the radiation the supernova produces.

Tenhauser Gate

The Mothership stops here to protect the Bentusi who are being attacked by the Taiidan. After destroying the attackers, the Bentusi tell the Kushan about their past and how they were exiled. There are limited mineable asteroids in this area.

The Galactic Core

The Mothership was pulled from hyperspace here and sneak attacked by a sizable Taiidan fleet. They also protect a defecting captain's ship. This area has a decent amount of mineable asteroids.

The Karos Graveyard

The Mothership was led here by the defecting captain, and ordered to dock a fighter with an abandoned ship to send a message to other members in the resistance. There are few mineable asteroids in this area, protected by the Junkyard Dog, a mysterious ship that roams Karos Graveyard looking for ships to snatch.

Bridge of Sighs

Captain Elson told the Kushan of the weakest point in the Taiidan perimeter surrounding Hiigara. The Mothership jumped here to destroy a hyperspace-inhibitor, which would allow them access the Homeworld planetary system. The Kushan find a sizeable guard force protecting the inhibitor, (at least 145 ion frigates) but they forced through and destroyed the inhibitor. There are a moderate amount of mineable asteroids here.

Chapel Perilous

The Kushan were pulled out of hyperspace just outside the Hiigaran system by a hyperspace-inhibitor installed inside a massive asteroid, which the Taiidan had set on a collision course with the Mothership. They engaged the Taiidan fleet here and destroyed them and the asteroid before making a final jump into hyperspace.

Hiigaran Orbit

The Mothership arrived at its final destination with a large battle fleet to destroy the Taiidan elite guard surrounding the planet. The Taiidan Emperor's Flagship was present. Captain Elson and other members of the Taiidan resistance arrived to assist the Exiles, with the end result being the death of the Emperor and the destruction of the Imperial Gene Bank. The Kushan reclaimed Hiigara as their own.
