secondary school located in Virginia Beach,Virginia . Tallwood was built on the site of an old colonial plantation whose manor house was Tallwood, hence the name of the school. Tallwood was remodeled during 2004-2005.The school's most remarkable feature is the Global Studies and World Languages Academy; one of several magnet programs in Virginia Beach. Students throughout the city interested in a studying global issues and foreign languages can apply to the Academy.
Academic honors
Tallwood's Policy Debate team won the VHSL State Championships for AAA Classical Debate in 2000, 2001, 2003, and 2004.

In 2005, Tallwood's Boys Volleyball Team has been named Beach District Champion 7 out of the past 8 years with a State Championship in 2004
In 2006, Tallwood's Boys Basketball team became the Beach Regular Season Champion, Eastern Region Champions, as well as becoming State Semifinalist. In 2007 the team repeated as the Regular Season Beach District champs
In 1998 the Tallwood Football team went 12-1 and won the District and Regional Championship. They ended up losing to Varina High School in the State semi-finals. One of the key members of the 1998 Tallwood Football Team was Marques Hampton. Hampton and his mother lost their lives while driving back from the Virginia Tech new student orientation. Virginia Tech has set up a scholarship in memory of Marques.
Clubs
Tallwood's 2006 Homecoming Theme Mardi Gras became a huge success as they sold out of tickets after 4 days of sales. This was the first homecoming dance off school grounds.
The Tallwood SCA has helped create Tallwood's theme of the 2006-2007 school year- Tallwood Pride: BIGGER and Better.
Tallwood's Band has made several accomplishments including, being named Virginia Honor Band three times in a row, capturing several championships in their Marching Band Competitions, and earning a trip to Carnegie Hall with, then-director, Mr. Stephen Panoff.
Tallwood is one of the only public schools in Virginia Beach to have a fencing club.
In spring 2007, both the Tallwood Mixed and Lady Madrigal choirs received Superior ratings [the highest ratings] at the '07 District II Choral Festival.
