"I Stay Away" is the lead single off American grunge band Alice in Chains's second EP, "Jar of Flies". It reached #10 on the Modern Rock Tracks chart. It is notably softer than Alice in Chains's previous recordings on both "Facelift" and "Dirt". It also uses a great deal of instrumentation that Alice in Chains had previously not attempted, including horns and string instruments.

Music video

The music video for "I Stay Away" is entirely stop-motion animation, featuring the band members in puppet form in a circus where all the performers are beset with unfortunate accidents. The video was directed by Nick Domkin, famous for his claymation film The Junky's Christmas.
