The film initially received mixed reviews from critics, however following its wider release in Europe many critics have warmed up to it; some even citing it as a masterpiece. Comparisions have been made with Fellini and David Lynch, specifically Mulholland Drive and more recently, Inland Empire. The film was nominated for Best Cinematography at the
