Angela Ann Knight (born Angela Ann Cook 31 October 1950) is a British Conservative politician.
Early life
Born in
Sheffield , she went to the Penrhos College boarding school inColwyn Bay and Sheffield High School.Knight was educated at the
University of Bristol gaining a BSc in [http://www.chm.bris.ac.uk Chemistry] and became an engineer, working for Air Products where she became a Product Development Manager for nitrogen. She set up the company Cook & Knight Metallurgical Processors Ltd. She served as a councillor onSheffield City Council 1987-92.Parliamentary career
She tried to be selected for the South Derbyshire candidate, but was superseded by
Edwina Currie . Knight was MP for Erewash from 1992 to 1997, when she lost the seat to Labour'sLiz Blackman . She wasEconomic Secretary to the Treasury from 1995 to 1997, being responsible for bring in the £2 coin.Later career
She became Chief Executive of [http://www.apcims.co.uk APCIMS] (Association of Private Client Investment Managers and Stockbrokers] in September 1997. In April 2007, she became the Chief Executive of the [http://www.bba.org.uk BBA] (
British Bankers' Association ).Personal life
She married David Knight in 1981. She is divorced with two sons.
