Edmonds School District , located inLynnwood, Washington . The school has approximately 1400 students enrolled for grades 9-12.School information
The school schedule is based on a 6-period schedule with each class lasting 50 minutes each. There is also an integrated period for silent reading, which is called advisory. There is also a portion of time set aside before and after school to help students with their learning, called study club or 7th period, though this is optional.
Lynnwood High School's
mascot is a Chimera. The Chimera is one of several mascots that have been associated with the school–the original mascot was the longhorn steer, and for portions of the 1980s, the mascot was the Royal. The current mascot is the Chimera but it is still commonly referred to as the "Royals".The school currently sits on property directly across from Alderwood Mall, but it is being rebuilt on a district-owned site on North Road. Voters approved a bond in 2006 that is funding the rebuild of the school, which subsequently allows the district to enter a long-term ground lease with developer Cypress Equities for the current property adjacent to the mall. The revenue from the ground lease will fund future construction and capital projects. The age and condition of the current building necessitated the bond going before voters. In addition, two aquifers, discovered in a study conducted in 2000 by Shannon & Wilson, lie beneath the buildings, requiring a pump to keep the water level constrained. Surface-water runoff has also caused problems at the school, but neither of these problems can cause imminent flooding.
